Our visit to the Staatsphilharmonie in Ludwigshafen
On Wednesday, March 16th, 2022, our parents drove us to the final stop in Rheingönheim. When we arrived we waited in the parking lot until everyone was there. Then we walked to the tram and got on. We rode a few stops and then got off. We still had to walk a bit to the State Philharmonic. There the teachers (Ms. Orth, Ms. Heib and Ms. Werth, as well as Ms. Dasch) divided us into two groups. One group stayed in a park and the others went to the State Philharmonic Hall. Here Mrs. Schuhmacher received us. She was very nice. She took us into the realm of sound and showed us many different instruments (woodwinds, brass, percussion and strings). There we were allowed to touch the contrabass while Mrs. Schuhmacher played it. You could really feel the contrabass vibrating, it was really cool.
Then we went to the main concert hall to attend an orchestra rehearsal. We sat on chairs and had to be very quiet. There the musicians were already playing their instruments to tune them, it was pretty loud. When the conductor came, everyone was quiet. The conductor gave a sign and all the instruments played together. That sounded really nice. They rehearsed for the performance the next day in the Pfalzbau. The piece of music we heard was for young and old. It was the tune from a video game called Final Fantasy. We really liked the music too. Ms. Schuhmacher also said that the artists practice up to 6 hours a day, that's a lot, but it pays off.
Afterwards we played in front of the State Philharmonic building on the square in front of the Hack Garden and had a picnic while the second group visited the orchestra.
Finally we took the tram back to Rheingönheim and played a little on the sports field until our parents picked us up again.

The future first graders visiting the fourth graders
On 03/18 the new first graders who come to our school in the summer visited us. At the beginning Mrs. Werth greeted the kindergarten children and introduced herself. First, Ms. Werth read the book “Mission Schulstart” aloud. It was about a boy named Mats who had to do some chores to become a proper school kid. He got the tasks in silver envelopes from Captain Kosmo, but actually these were from his parents. When the book was over, we also got a letter from Captain Kosmo. The task was to make a rocket. We, the fourth graders of 4c, were each assigned a child to help.
The kindergarten children had to trace, cut out, glue and write down the name if they could. Then they were allowed to paint their rocket. They all did very well. Whoever was finished could add a rocket with geometric shapes such as rectangles, triangles and circles. The future first graders were able to build figures using building blocks. That was great fun for everyone. At the end we sang the song "The Mouse on a Space Journey" together and danced to it. As a farewell gift, the future first graders received rockets filled with candy that we made for them. At the end of the visit we explored our great schoolyard together and played together. We hope that the first day at our school was a nice memory for the future first graders and that everyone is now looking forward to school in the summer.
